i scanned a resume into a Word 2000 document and i need to format it to
forward to a client. I dont want the person's personal info shown so I wanted
to copy and paste into a new word document but cant. the only thing for me to
do is re-key the whole document or......??? (that's where Microsoft comes in)

Is there a way to copy text from the document and paste into another?

Hi,

Before opening the file please do these steps:

1. Open Mircosoft Word 2003
2. Click on File -> Open
3. Select "Files of type" like Word 2000
4. Select the File name which you would like to open
5. This will open the Document in the same format which you have earlier.
6. If it is prompting for any File to be installed, please use the Office
Install CD to install them.
7. So that you can do a necessary changes and format the Resume.

Satya

You need an OCR (optical character recognition) program to change the
picture of the page (what you got from the scanner) into editable text. You
probably got a "lite" version of an OCR program in the software bundle with
your scanner, or you can buy one. Or you can retype the document...

Ms. Kolluri:
I don't have Word 2003, we operate off Office 2000. Is there any way to do
what i'm trying to do in Word 2000?

I've done contract work so I know exactly what you want to do, and why. ;-)

Scan it in. Use a graphics program to delete out the parts you don't want
the potential employer to see.

Yes, there are other ways to do it but this would be the easiest. Second to
asking the employee to send you an electronic file of their resume.

Not without additional third party software. Most scanners are supplied with
a software package that includes OCR.
