Hi,

I am going to purchase a scanner, and I need to decide between
Epson Perfection 1670 (1600dpi, 100$), and Canon Lide 30 (1200 dpi, 80$).

What are the adventages of Epson over Canon? speed? Accuracy in color
recognition? Are the Canon scanners inferior at any feature by using
CIS technology: image precision, durability...?

Is there any difference between the Epson Perfection 1670 and the PHOTO
version appart from the Transparency accessory? The PHOTO costs 30$ more.

Thanks in advance.
Regards.

A lot depends of what you plan to use this scanner to scan. Prints, negs,
just text documents?

The Canon scanners are often cited by some users for poor software. If you
don't plan to do anything more than documents and prints, this may not
matter.

Books, magazines, text documents, photographic prints. I am not planning
to scan slides, nor negatives.
