volume if it comes up. Answer Y and Enter if it asks to run after reboot.

how do i scandisk windows xp with my old 98 i just hit

'scandisk' has been dropped on XP, it has been replaced by 'chkdsk'.
Goto a command prompt and type: chkdsk /?
This will give you the help-file for 'chkdsk'

Another way is to Rt Click the drive icon on My Computer. Then select
properties/tools and you can then run (after reboot) Error checking and
defrag.

Dan,
Start/My Computer/right click the Drive (Hard Disk)/from the Drop Down Menu,
click Properties/under the Gen Tab, you will see one Windows Tool "Disk
Cleanup"/under the Tools Tab you will see two more Windows Tools, "Error
Checking" which is actually "Check Disk" which replaced "Scan Disk"/below
that is "Defragmentation". Normally you should run them one behind the other
in the sequence listed.
