How do I run a scandisk with win XP home.

When I run outlook express it takes ages to load up, in
excess of 60 seconds or more.

I want to run a scandisk to see if there is anything
wrong.

Either that or if someone knows whats wrong with outlook
express (its only this program either and it isnt all of
the time) but it happens even after a re-boot.

Incidently anyone know why it takes so long to shut down

Any help appreciated

If you are attempting to correct errors on your drive:
1) go to My Computer
2) right-click on the drive in question
3) select Properties, and then the Tools tab
4) click the "Check Now" button in the Error-checking section
5) be sure to tick the 'Automatically fix file system errors' to ON, then
click Start.
If it complains about not being able to run right, now, choose the "Schedule
for next boot" option.
The next time your system boots, it will detour to correct disk errors, then
boot.

Once you've done a complete check, consider running Defrag.... it is found
on the Tools tab, as well.

If your shutdown delays remain, check out this link to resources:
