ScanDefrag question

I've been using ScanDefrag quite happily for a while, and now it's not
happy. It doesn't start up in restricted mode anymore, so it tries to run
scandisk and defrag while seti@home is running. I've tried uninstalling
and reinstalling, but no joy.

I need a program that will turn off seti, run scandisk and defrag, then
restart the computer, and do it reliably. Any suggestions?

BTW, my programming skills are almost nil, and I'm not very comfortable
with meddling with my registry. I'll do it if I must, but if that's what
you want to suggest, pleasepleaseplease give detailed instruction.

You could try geodisk, but I have to say it does not turn off my Sygate
firewall; I don't know if the version I've got postdates the version of
geodisk I use.

Thanks! I don't use Sygate, so I might be okay with this. It looks like
exactly what I need.

But unfortunately it's not. It won't run on my machine, a Dell with
WindozeME.

Dell, ME and SETI, quite a combination. You might see if the MVP's
in microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion can help you. Users of ME,
Geodisk and ScanDefrag hang out there.

Combine this with Sysinternal's PageDefrag to defragment a bunch of
system files at boot time, and you've got a complete solution:
