Can you recommend a scanner that scans to within .25" from the outside edge
of the scanner's housing?

I need a scanner that is easy to use with bound books, by placing the gutter
of the book at the outside edge of the housing so the binding of the book is
not stressed by pressing it flat on the scanner bed.

My HP Scanjet 5100C is about 1.5" from outside edge of housing to edge of
the scanned area.
The new CAnoScan LiDE 30 is about .5" from edge to edge.
What is this measurment on your scanner?

Are there scanners made especially for this type of use?

Thanks for your help.

John,

I asked the same question several months ago, and the Canon was the
best that we found. 0.25 inches would be better, but 0.5 inch is
probably "good enough".
