If i have switched of system restore which means i have
no restore points.
how can i go to a previos reg point as i now have
problems after installing some software.
i win98 in you would run cmd in run and then type
scanreg. this would then give you different save points
in the reg, does not work for xp any suggestions.

does the system not back up the reg and if so can you not
access this through the dos prompt.

Registry backups are contained in the restore points. The last DOS-based
version of Windows was ME.

If you have turned off system restore then you have basically "jumped
out of an airplane without a parachute".

Why would you make changes to your system without first understanding
exactly what the consequences of those changes would be?
