Scan is easily interrupted....

Both v1.0.509 and v1.0.501 stop scanning once you click
on 'Help' in the Menu, e.g. open 'About Microsoft
AntiSypware'. I assume this is a bug. If this is Beta
software, why can't we report bugs or problems direct to
Microsoft ? Even in the Newsgroups categories I see
nothing resembling 'Bugs', 'Issues' or simply 'Feedback
to Microsoft'!

This should be fixed in .509. I can't replicate your findings with regard
to any of the choices under Help--the scan continues.

Can you retest with .509 and give me a menu choice that causes the scan to
halt without a warning dialog?

I updated again using your link: same size .exe, same
v1.0.509, same problem. To reproduce the problem:
- start Microsoft AntiVirus
- click on 'Run Quick Scan Now'
<Scan Progress: Files scanned increments>
- click on 'Help' in the Menu bar
<Files scanned halts; also what file it is scanning>
- go down and select 'About Microsoft AntiSpyware...'
- after a pause, click on the 'OK' button
<scanning is resumed>
Should I have deinstalled v1.0.501 first ?

I'll do some testing. No--you don't need to have uninstalled .501 first,
but you do need to have done the reboot at the end of the install (or
sometime before you test, anyway!)

I'm not sure whether pausing the scan counts as a failure--aborting it
definitely does. The only other question I'd have is which version of
Windows are you seeing this on?

OK - I can confirm this on XP Pro, Service Pack 2.

The scan pauses when you hit the Help button. If you go on to actually open
the help file, it resumes. If you choose About, it stays paused, even if
you go on to Diagnostics. I didn't test going to the web support forums.

I think this area is vastly improved over build .501 which aborted the scan
at the drop of a hat, but it still isn't what the user might expect, and,
because the animation continues, the user might not notice what is
happening.
