scan for updates hangs

Rob Stawicki

I am using Windows 2000 Pro on 2 different machines. When
I do a Scan for Updates, both machines hang IE at 66%.
Anyone able to shed any light on my problem?

Thanks,

HI Rob,

Try the following workarounds to solve the issue:

When you press Scan for updates in Windows Update, you receive Windows
Update is looking for available updates... 0% complete and then the process
hangs.

This behavior can be the result of having NetSonic Internet accelerator
installed.

If there is no update available at http://www.web3000.com, use any of the
following workarounds:

Workaround 1
1. Start Internet Explorer.
2. Press Internet Options on the Tools menu.

3. Select the Connections tab.

4. Press the LAN Settings button.

5. Clear the Automatically detect settings box.

6. Press OK and OK.

Workaround 2
1. Right-click the NetSonic icon on the Windows taskbar and press Close.
2. Access Windows Update.

Workaround 3
1. Control Panel / Add/Remove Programs.
2. Select NetSonic and press Change/Remove.

3. Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall the application
