I am still getting this error. I have tried installing updates etc with no
success.

From the other comments this appears a common problem.

Can Microsoft give us a fix?

This error is probably due to a bug--if you are on a dynamic partition. A
fix for this should be available soon, possibly some time this week.

Thanks - Just installed Defender today & encountered the same 0x8050800c
error. I can confirm that I do have dynamic partitions. Will wait patiently.

These items have probably been noted by others, however:
1. Desktop or systray icon needed.
2. Indication during update download that something is occuring.

About my blank post earlier .... Ooops!

This error should be fixed the update that was released earlier today.

Please let me know if you still see this error.

Thanks

-Mike

Hi Mike,

I'd just like to advise you I am not getting this error any more. I can
confirm my disks are dynamic and I was getting the error. Engel, suggestion
the UPHClean-Setup.msi but unfortunately, that didnt work.

Thanks.

I am getting this error with the latest defs and engine. I have tried
Chckdsk on all drives (I have a lot) deleting definitions/reinstalling and
still get the error.

Disk type is "Basic", Windows is on SATA (Uli M1575 Controller) with drive
C:\ on IDE (ALi M5229 controller). 4 total SATA HDs, 1 IDE HD, 1 IDE DVD-RW.

My temporary workaround is to do a Custom Scan and select the folders
manually of my Windows drive. Have not tried scanning all HDs (I have over a
terabyte). I would like to be able to manually select to scan my registry.
That would be a nice addition to the custom scan options.

I too am getting this error with the latest updates. Interestingly if I try a
custom scan on the system drive it returns an error of "0x80508019. The file
or drive you are trying to scan does not exist on this computer.
Any comments/advice?
NB: I am running F-Secure Internet Security 2007 Beta. I will be emailing
F-secure for their comments.
