scan duration

I noticed that my scheduled scan duration is about 12 minutes; however, if I
start the scan manually, the scan takes about 4 minutes. Both scans were
run in normal mode, nothing else running, and not on the internet. I did
not record the items scanned to see if that is why the time difference. Not
really important but interesting. 12 minutes is like Ad-Aware; 4 minutes is
a little longer than SBS&D.

MSAS has never found anything so maybe it is not really working and that is
why my scan is not as long as yours. Of course, Ad-Aware does not either
and SBS&D only finds tracks and cookies. I use cookie wall so have not had
bad cookies for at least a year. I have not set MSAS up to scan for tracks.
I will try that with Beta 2.

Still the manual vs. scheduled scan duration seems strange.

Mine takes about 30 minutes. But I have a PIII 700 and 11
gigs of files. You might check to see if you are only
running a quick scan. Click on Scan Options and check Run
a Full System Scan and make sure all three boxes are
checked. Then check Save These Options and then Run Scan
Now and see if that takes longer.

Your scheduled scan might be set for a full system scan
by default.
Mine takes 12 minutes for a full system scan and 4
minutes for a quick scan, whether manual or auto. I have
over 8 gigs of files ... system running at 2 Gigs.

I set it on Full System Scan when I did the installation and it is still on
that setting. The difference seems to be how I run the scan. If I open the
program and click on scan, the time is between 10 and 12 minutes and the
items checked are: memory 955; files 15782; and registry 8500. If I right
click on the try icon and then click on run scan, the time is about 4
minutes and the items checked are: memory 28; files 18808; and registry
8500.
