Ahh I thought i'll try them again. To save me explaining over and over again below is the email I have just written and sent to them exactly 4mins ago.

Please dont inform of how good Scan are. I've had too many bad experiences with them and this will be the last. However I thought it only fare to share.

------------------------------------

Let me first start by saying that in the past I felt let down by you as a customer and because of this felt that I would no longer be buying anything from you again. However due to a lot of positive comments made by certain online friends I thought it would be time to maybe start shopping with you again, so recently I ordered on the above invoice two XFX Graphics cards, sum totalling nearly £290.

I was very pleased to see the cards arrive by City-Link a few days later and wanted to insert them into my computer as soon as possible. So I started unwrapping the packaging. The first I unwrapped was in excellent condition, however the second to my astonishment had already been opened. I will stress at this time at no time of ordering did I order a B grade or Used product.

I continued to open the packaging and found all the contents within. I thought maybe it had to have been repackaged by yourselves or in the factory at some time but wasnt sure. I then removed card from inside cardboard box which was ripped, and clear casing to find two things.

1. The aluminium support strut at the top of the card had a screw missing

2. There was an amount of dust on the fan which only proved the card was not new and had been in another computer and used for a considerable time before I had recieved it.

Again I did not at any time ask for or buy a second hand product. It is plain to me that this card was returned to you or used previosly by yourselves and repackaged to be sold as NEW. I cannot find this acceptable in any means. I have been sold an item as new which is clearly not new and hope that this email will be answered as swiftly as I have written
it.
I await your response

Ooooohhhh dear.....like to see how this one goes....keep us posted....;)

I've never used Scan, so I can't comment - but I will be interested to see what they reply...:thumb:

Surely they didn't really think they could get away with something like that?!

It certainly looks like it!

The most annoying thing it that it will be me that has to fork out the cash to send it back to them. It will cost me about another £7 recorded delivery!

Yeah, I know:(. I've been bit more than once when I simply couldn't afford the postage to send faulty goods back for replacement. But they know this of course, I expect it saves them thousands & thousands each year both in postage & in goods that they don't have to replace or repair. Doesn't do them any good in the goodwill & word of mouth marketing departments though.

Ahh but I have the law on my side. They willing sent me a preowned for new product. I will not pay postage back to them under any circumstance.
I've had enuff of their sh*te now!

I moved your thread TD

Unfortunately this sort of thing happens everyday, not just individual Items but whole PCs are reshipped as new.

I have had such components from suppliers also ... and some were plainly marked "re-manufactured" as in a couple of HDs

My HP P1000 was replaced under warrantee with a re-manufactured printer ... but they did state before exchanging it that this may happen ... never had a problem with it either, but at least I was told.

good luck with getting a NEW replacement. :thumb:

Ok recieved a call on my mobile at 10:35am

Lovely young lady called Carrie.

She was no doubt good at her job and sounded very sincere about what had happened and apologised profusely.

Apparently what had happened was a customer had physically returned the item over the counter explaining it was no good for what they need and asked for a refund. It was then just returned to the shelves without being checked first.

She admitted the item was B Grade class and offered me three choices,

1. They could send a courier to pick it up and replace the item

2. They could offer me a refund

3. They would make a credit to my account for £10+ VAT

Considering the card was fully functional and not really damaged I took the £10+

After the phone call I may just consider buying from them again. I can see they are trying to improve Customer Services within the company.

Time will tell

I commend you this time Scan.co.uk for your ugency well done. Hopefully this will thread turn up in a search somewhere for someone so they can make their own minds up. Afterall reputation is everything when it comes to online purchasing!
