I HAVE TRIED TO USE SCAN DISK AND ON THE 10TH ATTEMPT I AM
TOLD "SCAN DISK HAS RESTARTED 10 TIMES BECAUSE WINDOWS OR
ANOTHER PROGRAM HAS BEEN WRITING TO THIS DRIVE.QUITING
SOME PROGRAMS MAY ENABLE SCANDISK TO FINISH SOONER"I DONT
KNOW EXACTLY WHAT IT WANTS ME TO QUIT OR WHY?

ANY SUGGESTION MUCH NEEDED

Hi

Click Start/Run
in the command prompt, type chkdsk /f, press the enter key and then reboot
Chkdsk will run on startup

1) Please lose the caps - it's considered yelling, is incredibly rude,
and makes your posts very hard to read.

2) If you're running Scandisk - and that is the verbatim error - then
you're not running XP as it doesn't exist. No NT-based OS has had it;
instead they use Checkdisk. If this is the case, then please repost in a
group more appropriate to your operating system.
 
You'll always get this comment if your PC is connected on a network - disconnect the network cable.
