How to Install and Use the Recovery Console in Windows XP
The Chkdsk command used when you boot to the Recovery Console is not the
same as the one used within a full Windows session. Only two switches are
available for this version:
.. /P Performs an exhaustive check of the current disk.
.. /R Repairs damage on the current disk.
If your system is able to boot to Windows either normally or in Safe Mode
and you suspect that you have disk errors, you should use the full Chkdsk
command.

Hi,

That'd be chkdsk, not scandisk. See if this helps:

Hi!digigal!
Check the registry:-

Click Start >Run >type "regedit" > ok

Navigate to

HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session
Manager

Double click the "BootExecute" value, and remove all the
entries

If this dosnt clear the problem you may well have a problem
with your Hard Drive go to the manifacturers website for
diagnostic tools.
