Scan disk won't open volume from direct acces

whenever i do scandisk i get this error..


Cannot continue checking disk C:
This volume is NTFS
Cannot open volume for direct access
Finished checking the disk
.........

I assume you mean CHKDSK and that you have Zone Alarm 5 installed ?

yes , sorry

There are issues with Zone alarm 5 and windows XP. The problem arises in
your case as you probably have ZA set up to load at start up and have tried
to run CHKDSK to find and fix errors on your drive. The simplest solution is
to properly uninstall ZA 5 and replace it for now with version 4.5.
