Scan disk problem

I just installed a new copy of XP Pro. And when I tried
to run scan disk for the first time it would not run, it
said it cannot open volume for direct access. This
happens on the reboot after I scheduled a scan disk. If
anyone can help it would be appreciated.

Windows XP has a "Checkdisk" error-checking utility that replaced
the old "Scandisk" utility in previous versions of Windows.

Utilize the following utility programs at least monthly:
