Am I missing something, or is it not possible to run a Scan Disk (e.g. to
repaif DLLs) in XP Pro like in '98 SE?

Thanks.

Neither Windows XP, nor any other NT version, has a program
called scandisk. The equivalent is called chkdsk.

all you have to do is click on my computer when it opens
right click on C-Drive you will see a option tools it has
scan disk+ defrag there.

Scandisk was a Win9x program for checking FAT 32 drives only (it did
*not* repair dlls). In XP you get the NT program - CHKDSK - instead,
which also handles NTFS drives but is not as friendly, nor flexible, on
FAT ones, where perhaps it matters more. You run it from a Command
Prompt - eg
CHKDSK C: /F
which will need an answer Y twice before it sets up to do the work at
next boot.

DLLS were, and are, a matter for SFC
In X, Start - Run the command
SFC /SCANNOW
It is advisable to have the CD in the drive in advance (exit its
autorun)

Many thanks!

Denis
