My machine is 5 years old and has had a lot of use. All seems ok except I cannot do the regular Scan Disc that I have been doing for a number of years. I go through the process, it appears to be doing something it informs me it is completed but when I go back in to check there has been no removal of the items I ticked and were 'blued'
Any idea what is happening and how do I get round this?

Scandisk is a "basic" program, it should be run in safe mode.

What "blue ticks" are you on about?

My apologies Muckshifter, Senior moment! You are right I should have typed Disk clean up. It will not function i.e. goes through the process but removes nothing. Any ideas what I could do? Apart from being more careful what I type!

no problem, have them all the time ...

Yup, easy ... go get CrapCleaner, we have it around here somewhere ... It'll do a better job.

Oh, be careful on installing it, UN-TICK the Yahoo toolbar, not needed, but it gives CC some revenue. :thumb:
