Gary

installing new clients (XP Pro) on a small bus 2k network.
suddenly the server stopped responding to network requests.

you can
1 Log on to the server with existing client PC's
2 map a drive to the server and access the files
3 ping the server by name or ip
4 browse the network through network neighbourghhood from
the server

you cannot
1 browse the network from a client you get as far as the
domain then it says yoou don't have permissions to access
the domain - even logged on as dom admin
2 access any printers on the server
3 join anymore clients to the domain

This is an urgent request for help as system has to be up
and running Monday

Thanks

Gary

Hi Gary,

For starters, put the nics of the XP's on anything but autosense.
Does everything on a ipconfig/all point to your server-ip?
Have a look at www.smallbizserver.net and the
microsoft.public.backoffice.smallbiz2000 newsgroup.
How many nics on the server and how are they setup?
Did you use the wizards in the SBS-console?

Hi Marina

ipconfig shows ok and points to the server. PC's log in
ok configured on dhcp from the server

there are 2 nics on the server

yes I did use the wizards

server has been running ok for approx a year

You can browse the active directory from a client pc

the server has dropped from the network on existing
machines that have been running for a year with no
changes made

Thanks for the web addresses

Gary

Hi Gary,

Did you do the regedits in 292822 (I suppose you're using RRAS)?
Internal nic has a blanc gateway and DNS is pointing to your server-IP? DNS
on external nic is also pointing to your server-IP?
