Is there a way to save my downloaded updates before i
restore my computer? I have a CD-RW, is there a way to
save the updates so i don't have to download the again,
after the system restore?

Hi Joe

Im afraid there is not really an easy way to do this. After Updates have
been downloaded and applied from Windows Update, they are deleted
thereafter, so you won't find those copies there.

My suggestion is the following: Download the Network install of SP4. In SP4,
most of the concurrent Updates for Windows 2000 are included. Now, if you
want to save all post SP4 updates, then you will have to go the the
Corporate Windows Update Site and use the Windows Update Basket. To go there
do this:

- Go to the Windows Update Site

- on the right hand pane there click on 'personalize windows update'

- now check the "Display the link to the Windows Update Catalog under See
Also" checkbox in "Set options for Windows Update".

- then click 'save settings'

- under 'see also' on the right hand side pane click on 'Welcome to Windows
Update Catalog'.

- choose "Find updates for Microsoft Windows operating systems"

- make your choice 'windows 2000 sp4' and download the updates to a folder.

- burn those updates from that folder to cd.

- install those updates after the windows 2000 re-install.

Be sure to visite Windows Update thereafter as there will still be some
updates you have to apply, for example IE6, DirectX, .net Framework and some
other Updates.

I hope this helps. Regards,

Fabio
