I'm trying to save Word documents on my CD rom. It keeps
telling me to contact the administrator. I can record on
CD anything else but Windows XP won't let me save on CD.
Anyone that can help would be appreciated.

Saving directly from Word to a CD or floppy inevitably leads to ruin. Save
to the HDD first and then copy to the removable disc.

I would love to tell you that I have the answer to your question BUT unfortunately I am in the same boat as you now in the New Year.

I get basically the same thing as you, (I have Windows Me... pity me...) and I either get what you get or another caveat - document is "Read Only" and cannot be opened, and it is NOT read only.

Much like you, I just want to know whether I can or not. I have a Windows Me manual in my hand and it is of no help either!

As was raised earlier in this thread, you should never save to removable
media directly from Word. This is not specifically a Windows ME issue! It
concerns the way Word uses temporary files in the workspace and the here the
utterly flaky nature of the packet filing system used to save to CDRW discs.
Save to the hard drive and *copy* to the removable media.
