I'm sure I saw a setting somewhere, on a friend's
computer, in XP that would allow you to have open windows
saved on the desktop. Thus having that window open when
the computer is rebooted.

Am I dreaming?

I'm using XP Pro at work, my friend has XP Home.

Thanks.

Control Panel -> Folder Options

or

Windows Explorer -> Tools menu -> Folder Options

Click on "View" tab

Scroll down to find:-

Restore previous folder windows at logon

Click on it so that a tick appears next to it.

Click "OK"

Hi Ken,

You can either: Go to Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/View and check
off Restore previous folder windows at logon

Or go to Start/Run/Regedit, navigate to this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Under Shell where it reads: explorer.exe add the name of the folder, etc.
to be opened at boot.
