My Sharp vl-z1 digital camera is dv in and out according
to it's specs. However - Sharp does not support any
software to make the video downloadable or uploadable. I
have tried Movie Maker 2 several times, changed my
firewire port into another card slot and everything = NO
LUCK! I've even tried downloading the windv program from
PapaJohn's website and it still doesn't work after saving
the movie in the avi format. PLEASE HELP! I have two
videos I want to put on VHS tape and can't upload them to
the camera!!!

Hi there,

I am not sure what you are actually asking for...you seem to have captured
your video to the computer from the camera even though you say you cannot
connect it, then you refer to VHS an Analog formt. Which do you want help
with ??

sorry - I've been searching for over a week for an answer so I'm really starting to think in circles. I have my video created in Movie Maker 2. I can save it to CD, computer, etc. However, when I try to save it back to the tape on the digital camcorder, it tells me my camera does not allow this. I double checked with Sharp and they said yes - it does but they dont' support software for it. SO I contacted Dazzle.com which they suggested. I would have to buy more software to allow the transfer - a program to transfer it. I have that between mm2 and windv but neither of them will allow me to save my made movie back to the tape. I have saved it in the .avi format even thinking that is what the problem is. I'm really frustrated.

According to the 2003 Model Comparison Chart on the Sharp site the VL-Z1 has
DV Terminal Out and the VL-Z7, VL-Z5 and VL-Z3 have In/Out.

Yes, but www.800stereo.com did not manufacture the camera. I got the spec's
at the manufacturer's site.

Check you manual very carefully, if it does not say it has DV In like the
other models, then it probably doesn't.

Hi there,

Forget the rather silly suggestion of looking through the menu. If the
people who made it say its only DV-OUT then its more than a fair bet that
it is exactly that DV-Out

Is there any way you can have a go at the person/shop who sold it to you?
If its a very recent purchase and maybe done on a credit card you might
have some leverage.

Hi there,

Sorry, I did not see that you had already given a similar comment...maybe
if she tries hard enough she might get her money back...Its such an easy
trap to fall into though.

I called another person from the Sharp company and asked
them again and they concurred - it's NOT DV out!!! I
could have strangled him but I was nice since it wasn't
his fault. I told him that they do need to update all
their data however so everyone knows this is only DV in!
Thanks for your help!!!
