Greetings all!
I want to complete my first movie and thus far have had no
issues in transferring the digital files into movie maker
and editing the clips. When I go to save the project
though, the only extension is windows movie maker ( cant
remember the code but it is defintely not mpeg 1 or 2).
How do you save from MM to mpeg-2 so I can open that up
with Nero and finish off the project.

Thanks a bunch for your response.

Tom

You'll need to convert your WMV to MPEG using one of the
many programs available. I'm trying to do the exact same
thing! Sonic MYDVD apparently. But its 50 quid!
I downloaded a shareware utility to do it yesterday, but
it failed!

There are all types of tools to convert from WMV to MPG. The
www.dvdrhelp.com web site is a great resource for this. www.PapaJohn.org
is another great resource also. From what I have learned the best way to
get your MM2 video onto DVD is to save it as an AVI file (for best quality)
then convert the avi to mpg.

I'm facing the same issue. I've completed my movie and tried to get it transfered to video, but the consultant explained that the WMM files are too compressed to make it watchable, and that I would need to convert it to a MPEG in order to get any quality from it. Anyone have any suggestions?

One of your options in saving a movie from MM2 is the full Digital Video
DV-AVI file. You can't get better than that. But, depending on how you will
distribute your movie to your audience, the consultant may be right about
MPEG being your best path... assuming it's off to a DVD for you.

WMV can be better than MPEG in quality... but that would be if you are
staying in the computer environment for playback.

Go to google and search for Tsunami. It is a very good encoder and is free for 30 days, renewable. Good luck!
