I have just completed an 80 mins project, which I intend tosave to mini DV.
To contain it on one tape i intend to use the LP configuration to give me 90
mins of taping. Will this affect the standard of the video in any way? Thanks

Well I did a dub from an analogue tape to a DV tape recently and had to
use the same LP mode on the DV so it would all fit because my analogue
tapes are all 90 mins. Analogue has less quality than DV and so having
completed the dubbing I have not seen any deterioration in the DV copy.

Having said that, digitising analogue video inherently means there
probably is some deterioration but you probably need access to
professional studio gear to detect it.

I also did this dubbing directly from the analogue camera to the DV
because when I tried using MM, I noticed the audio got out of sync at
one point. And why go through an unnecessary middle step when I could
dub directly from the analogue handicm to the DV?

Thanks - that's useful to know. In my case the original was from Mini DV so
probably any deterioration should be minimal, if any.
