i have recently upgraded my comp and installed the upgrade to MM2.
I have a pioneer 106 DVD writer and I am finding it impossible to get
my eriter to understand that I have a DVD disk inserted.
Although I have saved in AVI format it keeps saying that I have to put
a cd in the writer.
I am not too sure if AVI is DVD format.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Pat

Pat,

Saving a movie to DV-AVI is the first step toward a DVD. Then you need to
use your DVD authoring and burning software, whatever you got with the DVD
writer, and have it use the DV-AVI file to make the DVD.

You don't burn a DVD directly from a DV-AVI file. It needs an MPEG2 file.

No, AVI isn't "DVD" format. You can burn an AVI to a
blank DVD as a data file, although it will only play on a
computer that has AVI playback capability. If this is
what you want to do, you might include a installation
copy of an AVI player, like Windows Media Player. If you
want to make a DVD that can be played in any (read most)
DVD players, you will need to use an encoder to convert
your AVI file to an mpeg-2. This is the universal DVD
encoding format. Then, you can use any recording
software to burn the mpeg-2 file to your disc. Hope this
helps. You might find encoders online for downloading...
