I made a listing of all my music "CD's" on Microsoft Word and would like to
save it to a "CD" and later be able to add to that listing on the "CD". How
do I do this?
Bob
Bob, what kind of CD media? CDR or CDRW? Do you use XP's burning tools or
do you have other software such as Roxio or Nero installed?
CDR: If your software and drive support multi-sessions, you would keep a
copy of the word document on your hard drive. Open that copy, make your
additions. Save to the hard drive using a different name. Then copy it to
the CDR. Example: Music Index - Aug 1 2005; Music Index -Aug 3 2005 and so
on. Delete old outdated versions of the file from the hard drive after
you've confirmed that the new file does indeed contains your additions.
IMPORTANT: When writing to the CDR, if the choice to "close" or "finalize"
the disk appears - say NO. You want to keep it open so that you can make
additions in the future. This disk can be read on the computer that created
it and on any computer with a cd drive that is capable of reading
multi-session disks (most current models can do this).
CDRW: If using XP's software, it will work as above.
If using third party software, again work with a copy of the document that
is stored on your hard drive (this is more of a word requirement - how that
program works). Save changes to the file on the hard drive. In this case
you do not need to change the file name. To get the file to the CDRW, save
it again selecting the CDRW as location in the save dialog box -OR- copy
the file to the CDRW. The third party software will replace the old copy of
the document with the new one.
