How do you save a slide as a jpg (for use as the background of the next
slide) if you want the slide to appear as it does after the animation to the
elements are completed or in othe words after the slide is finishe? Thank you.

Save that slide as an image file, then insert it as your background

Let suppose y're on slideshow mode. After the animations are over, use Print
Screen. Then on edition mode, add a new slide then crop the screen capture.

Doing it this way will only save the slide as it appears in the edit mode. I
need to capture the slide after animation effects. Jean-Pierre Forestier
suggested a method that may work but is there a better way. thank you.

Not that I'm aware. Sorry I never read the question more closely. What
Jean-Pierre said is the way I would do it also.
