When I shut down Windows 2000 the systems pauses for
several minutes while 'Saving settings on exit'. Can I
speed this up or turn it off?

Hello Smiley,

You can disable the "Save Settings on Exit" option within the Server
Manager options. To access the Server Manager follow the steps below.

1) Click Start, Run and type srvmgr.exe
2) Click on Options on the menu bar and uncheck the "Save Settings on
Exit" option.
3) Restart for the changes to take effect.

With the "Save Settings on Exit" option enabled it will save the main
window size and postion, as well as the view menu settings at shutdown.

Good Luck,
