I have save a project I was hoping to give for a christmas project. The
project contains approximately 240 pictures with video transititons and video
effects as well as being set to music. Approximately 5 songs. When I go to
save the project onto a dvd using the windows movie maker it completes the
project, but when I play the project on my home dvd player the pictures play
until a certian point, then stops, while the music continues to play. Please
any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

we must be twins,, i have 227 pictures, 5 songs and all the bells and
whistles too and have the same problem, and am also giving as a gift for
xmas..cant even save it out to media player on my pc without it dumping out
after so long. I first made sure i had directX 9.0, then i uped my paging
size to 2000 (so far) and it got really close to the end. see post below
major saving issues,,, i'm going to try splitting my project up and see if
that works... it's incredibly frustrating isn't it!?

Ditto On the Problem... Exactly the same... Trying to assist my bookkeeper
with her Video Project for Christmas... but after about 10 attempts only got
to about 95% of the project and it just stops... Other times it says it
completes but then just as ya'll experienced... slides freeze at some random
foto and the music plays on to the end... I've tried everything I can think
of as a 20 year Computer Tech with no success... Up'ed the RAM to 768,
adjusted the Video Acceration, checked the codecs per Papa John... turned off
everything in startup, turned off other non-essenstial services in the Manage
Services routines (disconnected from the internet and turned of my antivirus
AVG 7.5)... Verified Direct 9.0c... ran all the Windows Updates... Expanded
my Virtual Memory to Max 744Mb....Set my Windows to Optimize for
Performance.... Conveted to NTFS File System. Scandisk/Defrag'ed...Checked
the Software Requirements.... Nada, Nothing has solved it or even made a
consistent difference... Tried transfering it to another PC and found that I
have to copy the MM File AND ALL the source files... which she has caputured
in a dozen places....

Still seems some WinXP background process is randomly kickin in, in the hour
or so it takes to render the default WMV file... to My Videos Folder, quit
trashing CDs by no longer selecting to Recordable CD output.... Splitting
the file in two may yet be the only workaround....

Let me know if anyone come up with something more for big projects like
this....

All three of you likely have the same problem. It could be a corrupt or
incompatible file but more likely than not it is a complexity issue because
your projects are so large. Splitting the project into smaller pieces and
bringing them together at the end is the solution.
See my website for step by step instructions. See the Movie Maker ->
How-To's -> Split a Project section.
