I have a presentation that has numerous links to a large excel spreadsheet.
The PPT file is about 20mb. After updating the excel spreadsheet and then
updating the PPT presentation, I would like to be able to save just the
finished presentation (without the OLE links) so that it could be modemed as
a much smaller file. Does anyone know how to do this in PPT or know of a
third party solution that wil do this?

Edit > Links

Select them all, and click the Break Links button. That's no guarantee that
the file will be smaller, however. Make sure you have Fast Saves turned off
(Tools > Options > Save) and then Save As a new name and presentation type:
presentation.
