Every time I save a picture (doesn't matter what type or
what application) the application just stops and can only
be cleared by cancelling via task manager.

I can save existing files after chnages no problems but
if i try and save the file as a new file i have problems

I can save all sorts of other files with no problems. It
also doesn't seem to matter where i save the file to.

This is causing me big problems now - any help will be
greatly appreciated

I have done the useual stuff with clearing the internet
cache, making sure i am allowed to write to the directory
(administrator) checking the disk is not full

Ive been at this days now and i am getting nowhere

All microsoft updates have been applied - xp sp1

Here are some general suggestions.

Have you deleted *all* of your temp and temporary
internet files? Try running DiskCleanup (all options).

Also couldn't hurt to search for *.tmp and delete
them also. And be sure your recycle bin is empty.

Then run error checking and defrag.

What percentage of your hard drive is free?

Are your video drivers up to date? Have you
tried reducing your video hardware acceleration?

Just wondering...do you have Adobe PhotoShop
or Elements installed?

You're welcome.

Did you try reducing your Video Hardware Acceleration?

You didn't say what % of your hard drive is free...
50% is a good number.

Is Dell Picture Studio the program that freezes when
you try to save an image? Maybe there is some info
on their website.
