saving pictures from the internet...

everytime i try and save a picture from the internet to
my documents, it saves it but i cant view it or put it as
a cover for other folders? i used to be able to but i
recentyl reinstalled everything on my computer, i have
Xp . has it got something to do with copyright? if so is
there a way to bypass it

Look at the properties of any of the problem downloaded pictures. Does it
have a .bmp extension ? If so, that means it has to be opened with Paint.
The biggest cause of this is an overstuffed Temporary Internet Files folder.
Empty it by going to Internet Explorer and selecting Tools>Internet
options...>Temporary Internet Files>Delete Files... Normally, one is told
that this is the only save format; if this fails to cure it, re-post and
someone else with a different solution should answer.
