Saving picture comments for a long time

I use ZoombrowserEX photo editing software that came with my Canon digital
camera. While I certainly don't do anything advanced, I'm concerned about
using this software to enter comments about each picture (these are long
comments and not the short comments that actually get stored on the picture)
as the program seems to store that information in a separate file specific to
that software. I know that I will want to keep these comments much longer
than I will probably keep this software, but I'm afraid those comments will
be lost. What do I do?

When using a proprietary database you
have to accept the fact that when you move
to new software that does not recoginze the
current file you will lose the metadata that
is not included in the image files.

Did you know you can add lots of info to JPEG
files (even in batches) from within Windows XP
without the need for any additional software?

Try the following if the files are in the .jpg format.

Open a folder that contains image files...My Pictures...
for example...Right click a .jpg or selected group
of .jpgs...from the menu...choose...Properties /
Summary tab / Advanced button...

Add info to any of the following fields by simply
selecting the field and begin typing.

Title
Subject
Keywords
Comments
Author

When you are finished click the OK button. All
selected files will be updated.

Thank you for the information. However, when I select multiple files I am
unable to click on the comment field. I can click on the comment field when
ever I select only a single JPEG file. Do you have any idea why this might
be?

Can you select the other four fields?

Sorry, I don't have an answer, it works on my system.

Okay...I'm thinking maybe you did not
click the Advanced button.

Do you see a screen like the one at the
following link:

You're correct-I wasn't clicking the Advanced button. When I click on the
summary tab, it gives me the field to enter the description into. It does
give me the option to click the advanced button, but when I click it it only
gives me the list of fields, it doesn't give me the space to enter anything
into it as on your screen shot. Is there an e-mail address that I could send
this screenshot of what I have to?

When I just click one JPEG file, I can enter the information into the
comment that I want and just clicking the summary tab. However, when I
click on more than one file and right click on properties, those fields do
not accept data.

Did you try scrolling down to the
bottom of the Properties screen?

Upload the file to the following site
and post the link here.

"YouSendIt"
http://www.yousendit.com/

All you have to do is enter an e-mail
address in the Recipient field and
click the browse button to select the
image you wish to upload. Then
click the "Send It" button.

The next screen that appears will give
you the download link. Just copy/paste
it into the message to the newsgroup.

Yours or even a fake...just
make one up.

The next screen that opens
will have the link you need to
post here.

Okay...your file titled 'Properties-Advanced.bmp'
is the screen we have been discussing. I notice
you have the 'Author' field selected...at that point...
all you have to do is begin typing.

Thank you. I just didn't type because I didn't think I could. Gladly, I was
wrong. Sorry to waste our time-but I certainly appreciate it!
