I am having a terrible time when I try to save a picture
from the web. I right click, save as, but it keeps
popping up with the ext .art and can't be seen. Is there
a way to correct this setting or fix it. There are alot
of things I do with pics and I need to be able to save
them to my computer. Thank you for your help!

a google search shows .art to be a compressed AOL image file. try saving a
photo out on your desktop, right click on it, choose open with, and select
whatever program you want to use. you can also check the "always use the
selected program" box. hope this helps.

Hi,

You may not have a program associated with that file type. Irfanview
(www.irfanview.com) is a free graphics program that can handle that type and
allow you to resave it as a .jpg or .gif file.

In your AOL software, go into the Preferences/Settings screens. You'll need
to look around a bit for the exact location of this setting as I don't
remember the exact route. Anyhow, you want to turn off "compressed
graphics." This is what produces *.art files in your AOL browsing
experience. Turning it off will give you the more conventional options for
saving pictures (for example, .JPG will become an available choice).
