Saving Outlook Express Emails

I am using Outlook Express v6 in XP SP3..
I want to save past e-mails for recovery backup possibility.
Just save the mailboxes?
What is the easiest but dependable way (for my buddy who doesn't
understand computers & software much) to do that?
