Hi,
I am trying to save NTSC stream using XP's Movie Maker to disk.... but the
thing crashes after every 10-20 minutes of saving. What to do?

--I turned off screen saver, and did not touch the PC while doing this, but
still not very reliable

Running on one of the latest HP MediaCenters (dual core).

I'm not sure I understand....

Are you using Windows Media Center to record the live tv program
or
Are you trying to edit a DVR-MS file?
or
Are you trying to capture and edit analog video from a VCR?

Hi Cari,

Thanks for answers (both posts!!).

My other post relates to using MediaCenter to capture video and then perhaps
edit in MovieMaker.

My posts here relates to capturing video (yes, from VCR) using the Movie
Maker (which is possible). It just keeps crashing every 10 minutes or so,
which I am guessing is due to the captured file size getting big.

Another Q: If I capture the video using MediaCenter TV application, and go
thru conversion, is the quality the same as capturing video directly via
MovieMaker?

Ensure your hard drive is formatted in NTFS format... which will help with
the large file sizes. FAT32 only supports up to 4gb in size.

I've never actually tried capturing analog (VCR) through MCE... I use either
PowerDirector or WinDVD... or even on occasion Roxy EMC. All work fine. I
also do not use the TV Tuner for capture, I have a VIVO capable graphics
card and I don't have to change tuner settings at all.
