Hi all.
I just got DSL (Hurray) but each time I start up Outlook it has reverted to
expecting to dial up and I have to change the mail handling settings again.
Can anyone tell me how to make Outlook keep the mail handling setting as
being 'Through Internet Explorer or third party dialer'? Help!!!
Phil

That's the wrong selection. Presumably when you got the DSL, you also
defined a LAN connectoid (look under your Network applet in Control
Panel). In Outlook:

Tools -> E-mail Accounts -> View or change -> select account and click
Change -> More Settings -> Connection -> select "Connect using my local
area network (LAN)".

You probably need to do the similar setup for your Internet Options:

Intenet Options (Control Panel) -> Connections -> select "Never dial a
connection" (or "Dial whenever a network connection is not present"
might also work).

While the "Connect using Internet Explorer's or 3rd party dialer" might
work *IF* you have Internet Options configured to "Never dial a
connection", you'll be using the LAN connection so you might as well as
configure them both to always use the LAN connectoid.
