I have Outlook 2000 on a Presario 10gig running WinME. With my small
business I have a bout 15,000 e-mails in my Inbox that I need to save for
later use.

1. What is the best way to save the Inbox (or other folders) to a file I
can then burn to a CD?

2.What is the best way to "compact" the e-mails (like I used to do with
OExpress in Mac) to truly delete e-mails that I deleted from my Delete
folder to help Outlook run better. Is this even necessary with Outlook for
Windows?

Also, is any of this stuff in Outlook Help so I can reference it in the
future? thank you. nathan

Shut down Outlook and copy your PST to a CD. Later, to restore it, copy the
PST back to your HD, remove the Read-Only attribute, and the File>Open in
Outlook.

Right-click the root of the folder tree, click Properties, then Advanced,
then Compact Now. No, it's not necessary.

Did you look? Searching the help for "compact" certainly works for me.
