saving images as jpeg files

I have been downloading images and saving them as jpeg files. In fact, the
save as "type" was automatically jpeg. Now, the type has changed to bitmap.
Even when I've gone back and tried to resave previous photos that I save as
jpeg files, they can now only be saved as bitmaps. How can I change the save
as type to "jpeg" once again.

I'm having thesame problem. Every now and then, emailed pics that are jpegs
get saved as bmps and I can't change them. There has to be a way. It doesn't
happen all the time but most of the time. This is giving me serious problems
producing a newsletter.

I'm having the same problem. I take jpegs from my email and they end up
bitmaps and I can't change them back. Why? How can I fix it?

Copy the .bmps to your hard drive and open
them in any image editing software...even MS
Paint...and go to File / Save As / JPEG.

If you empty your TIF folder you may find that
you don't receive as many .bmps.

Actually, they come in as jpgs but then turn into bmps and i'm given no
alternative to save them as. I'll try putting them in paint and see what
happens. Thanks
