Hi,

I'd like to know how to save my presentation as Handouts in Word so I can
email it. I remember a thread about this some time ago but can't figure out
how to do it. I'm running PPT 2002, Win XP Home.

Thank you.

Use File > Send > To Word and make a choice of what to send. Then you can
reformat as you wish in Word and then save the file.

I think you are looking for the File--> Send to--> Word options. Try it and
then let us know if that isn't what you want.

Hi, Rich.

What Sonia and Kathy said re Send to Word.

Just be aware that Send to Word often creates *humongous* files, so you
might want to consider converting the Word document to a PDF if you need
something smaller.

By humongous, she means ...

4 meg PPT file (30 optimized slides) may exceed 200 meg Word file!

Ah - but you can significantly reduce the size of the file by using the
"link" option when sending. After you get the Word document built, use
Edit--> Links in Word to break the links. Re-save and the file size should
be MUCH smaller.

(My bad for forgetting to put this in the first response.)

Unfortunately, that doesn't always take it down as far as needed for email.
That's why I mentioned the PDF as an alternative.

Thanks to everyone. That worked. It was 46 slides, I scaled the slides down,
and it turned out being 11megs.

Thanks again.

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

It sounds that, although there are workarounds, you would like this to be a
lot easier to do in PowerPoint.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) have suggestions for how
PowerPoint and Word can work better together for creating handout documents
for distribution, don't forget to send your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS,
please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
