Saving folder settings on removable drives?

Windows allows you to save folder settings on your hard (C) drive.
Some folders can be "lists", some "tiles," some "details," etc. In the
control panel, folder options menu, there is a setting under "views"
then "advanced" that allows you to set Windows so that it remembers the
individual setting for each folder.

As I say, this works fine for the hard (C) drive. However, it does not
seem to work at all for a removable disk drive. With a USB flash
drive, all folders are set to "details." Even if you make sure that
the folder settings option is set to "remember" the individual folder
settings, the folder settings on the flash drive always revert to
"details." This happens not only when you unplug and then reinsert the
drive, but even if you click away from one folder and then come back to
it in the same session. It's back to "details" no matter what you
changed the settings to.

Does anyone know how to make a flash drive remember its folder
settings?

Thanks.

Hopefully someone will tell us otherwise, but I think you're stuck with
this. Removable media is handled differently than local disks. Driver
location and last position used (for example which USB port the device was
attached to), I believe, these are the limits of what the registry records
for removable media. If configured to do so, views for the contents of
local fixed disks only are remembered and handled by the registry.
