Any way to make a button or something on the left side of
the save file screen (where it says "recently saved
documents" and "my documents" and "desktop" etc) to go to
a particular directory quickly?

How can I edit the default Places bar quick links in Windows XP's and Windows 2000's Open and Save common dialog boxes?

You can accomplish the same by downloading TweakUI from the following page:
TweakUI v2.00 for Windows XP/XP MCE [564 KB].
http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

TweakUI v2.10 for Windows XP SP1/XP MCE/2003 [147 KB].

This setting applies globally (which uses comdlg32 control) and not just a specific application.
