Saving files - loss of document summary information

When I back up or copy files a dialogue box pops up called "Confirm Stream
Loss". It says that if I carry on I will lose the document summary
information (subject and author in the case of my files). I carry on and I
have lost the information. I use document summary information as the index
for scores of press cuttings and articles - without them I've just got a long
list of file titles! Any suggestions?

I'm using Windows XP home edition and Microsoft Works Suite 2004.

Thanks

Are you saving these documents to a drive that uses a filesystem that is
not NTFS, such as an external drive (USB flash/harddrive/etc.) formatted
as FAT32 for example?
NTFS supports the streams, FAT32 does not.

Nor does UDF or many of the other formats used on CDs, DVDs and some
external drives.
There ARE utilities that will separately find and copy the ADSs as an
additional file and give it a similar name for easy finding. Offhand I
can't think of any though; try google.

Dear Both
This must be right. The problem does not come up when I back up to other
folders on C: It does when I back up to CD, memory stick and Norton external
back up. What a hassle!

Thanks
