Hello,

When I try to save an image I only get an option to save
the file as a bmp file type, even if the image is in jpg
format. This just started to happen withing the past 2
days. I right click on the image, click save file as and
the file is listed as 'untitled' and the only file type
option is *.bmp. No other file types are listed.

Is there a way to change that option?

Hi, Bill.

This must be a limitation of whatever application program you are using to
save the file - and you didn't tell us which application it is.

If this is happening in Internet Explorer, the most common solution is to
empty your cache. Click Tools | Internet Options... and look in the middle
of the first (General) tab.

Hello RC,
You made the right assumption, I was in IE. I did as
you suggested. There were over 31 thousand files in the
cache. It took awhile for the deletion to run. Then I
clicked on saving a jpg image and I was able to save it
that way.

Now that you've solved my problem, why does it happen.
That is, why does a full cache not allow the saving of
files in the format they originate in?

Thanks for your help!

Hi, Bill.

I have no idea why, but it is a FAQ here. I simply repeated the tip that
I've seen others post many times. I'm glad it worked for you.

You might want to go back to Tools | Internet Options..., and this time go
to the Advanced tab. Scroll way down to Security and check the box that
says Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed. If you
have broadband, you can probably download a new copy of most items almost as
quickly as IE can find it in the cache, anyhow.
