Saving directly to the web

It used to work like this:

I'd open internet explorer and go to my website. I'd click on the frontpage
icon on whatever page I wanted to make changes to and that page would load in
frontpage. When I was done I'd close front page and it would ask if I wanted
to save, which I would and it would save directly on the website.

I downloaded the entire site... made a few changes and then published the
changed pages. I noticed it publishing a few other things as well, but I'm
not sure what they were, they looked like files in the other folders that
frontpage puts there for whatever reason.

So now, if I go to my website and click the frontpage icon it still brings
the page up in frontpage, but when I go to save it it asks for a location on
my computer, instead of saving it directly to the web. Is there any way to
fix that?

Does the site have the FP extensions installed, if not then you can not save change back to it.

I assume it's opening the one on the server as I am clicking on the front
page icon in internet explorer while I'm on the website.

Open Web doesn't do it for me. Is it possible the frontpage extensions are
corrupted? Does anyone know the process of how it all works?

When you chose Open Web what happens? Do you get an error message? If so
contact your web host and make sure the FrontPage Extensions are installed
or ask them to repair them.
