saving cancelled and declined meetings

As soon as I decline a meeting or remove a cancelled meeting from my
calendar, it goes to the trash. This is bad, as I need to track those
meetings in case things change. I can't find a preference to control that. Is
there a way to keep that from happening? (No, I can't just move them out of
the trash. When I try to do that, they make a new item). Thanks!

Create another Calendar folder and place them in there.
