In the past I was able to assign keywords, titles, subject, etc information
directly by clicking properties and summary. About 6-8 weeks ago this
suddenly became impossible. The area to enter this information appears but
after the information is entered it disappears. THe files are not read only
and I have administrative rights. I am using XP Pro. Any suggestions? THis
is driving me crazy. COuld this be related to the Metafile fix issued in
early January? Thanks

No guarantees...but try this,
maybe it will restore the option:

go to...Start / Run and type:

"REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL"
(without the quotes)(Yes, there's
a space between 2 and S)

Click...OK.

A dialog box should report the following:

"DllRegisterServer in SHIMGVW.DLL succeeded"

John,

I will certainly share it. Adobe says it is a MIcrosoft issue but I am not
sure. I have a quest.

When you right click on a picture and then click on Properties on the
opening menu, a window will open.
You should see only two tabs: General and Summary.
If you see a third with something like "Pictures" or "Custom" some software
placed it there. It may or may not be Adobe. But if there is a third tab,
entering anything under the Summary tab will be like you wrote: you write
what you want but it does not "take" or "stay" after you click on Apply or
OK.
This problem has been reported here before, but not frequently and I have
not seen a solution for this.

You are correct! I have a third tab called pictures. Thanks, eventhough this
makes me more suspicious of Adobe since this problem only started when I
loaded Photoshop elements. Thanks, again for the lead.
