Saving Animations

Hi. I work in different 3D programs and I have never had this problem before,
and it only happens in Vista.
When I create an image, my programs create the image, and I can save it with
no problem. When I create an animation, the programs need to save the file
after it creates each frame. Vista is blocking those programs from doing
this, and I need to have them allowed to create and save these files
constantly.
I like the security that Vista has, but is there any way to allow just
certain programs to do this while keeping that security feature on for
everything else?

Older programs kept the data in Program files with the rest of the program;
but Vista restricts writing to that folder.
I solve that by either telling the program to save elsewhere, OR by
installing to somewhere outside the Program Files folder.
If the program is not designed for Vista, you may need to install it
somewhere other than Program Files.
On my machine, it is C:\old programs\
That makes me see UAC prompts a lot less.
I'll bet MS hates that, since they admit they designed UAC to be irritating
on purpose.
I think they did it to try to sell more, newer software.

Well, here you are again. Multiposting the same question. I answered you in
a fair amount of detail before in your other thread and asked for some
clarifying answers. You didn't bother to reply. Funny thing how you got the
same sort of answer in *this* thread.

If you want people to help you, you've got to provide more information. It
won't be me, of course.

Hi.

I am acctually changing where it will save to. I have tried saving in it's
program files folder, my Documents folder, on the root drive, etc. It just
won't let my programs save the animation. These are also not old programs,
they are pretty much "just out".

The programs have to save after each frame because they are creating each
frame from scratch, then saving that frame to the saved animation file. It is
different from some of the other programs where the content is already there
and you work with the frames all at the same time. Here you work with the
whole animation, get it the way you want it, then when you "render" it, it
takes time to create each frame so it can save it to the file.

I hope I am explaining this correctly. Everything works perfectly in these
programs except that Vista won't let me save my animations.

What other thread did you ask your questions? Every time I got questions
about this, I answered them the best that I could. If I missed your post
before, I am sorry. What information did you ask for? What information am I
missing?

Did you overlook Malke's comment about "Multiposting the same question"? Do
you know what multiposting is? Did you read the instructions for how to use
these Microsoft Communities? (Communities are also known as Discussion
Groups, but really they are just Usenet newsgroups, hosted on the Microsoft
public news servers, but with a different User Interface so that they can be
accessed from the web with Internet Explorer or another browser.)

Multiposting means posting multiple messages with the same question in
multiple newsgroups. Crossposting means posting a single message to
multiple newsgroups. With crossposting, all replies in all newsgroups
appear in a single coherent thread in all those newsgroups. Responders in
one group will know about responses in other groups, so there won't be
duplication of efforts and so that erroneous or incomplete responses in one
group can be corrected or completed by readers in another group. The payoff
for you is that you won't have to check all those groups and try to
reconcile the responses.

No, I did not overlook the multiposting comment. That's why I asked "what
other thread". I acctually asked this same question in the "security"
section, and there were no responses, soI thought I should post it here.
Maybe it was posted in the wrong section. I thought that since that post was
already there, I could not link it to this one. (If you can I am sorry.) I
have been trying to find the answer to this problem since January 08. I have
tried asking in other forums for those particular programs (by the way, they
are Lightwave 9.3, Vue 6 Infinite, and Poser 7) and the answers I got were
not helping. The answers were: "It works fine for me." "I've never had any
problems like that." "Try re-installing it." (which I did many times) "Run it
in administrator mode" (which they are) "Log in as an administrator" (I am in
the Owner/Administrator account) "Restart in administrator mode" (which I
asked the question "Where do I find the setting to restart in administrator
mode" and got the reply "Control panel, user accounts, you will find it."
which I didn't.) If I could link all the forums together that I was asking
this question in, I did not know it. Also, the question I posted in security
here was my first post ever here, and there is no answers there last time I
checked (this morning).

I must be missing something here, maybe Malke thought I was someone else. If
there is a common thread where someone else is also having this problem, I
would love to read it, and learn something from it. If there is any other
information I can give to help someone help me find the answer to this, I am
more than willing to give all the information I can. I just didn't want to
bog it down with useless information that is not needed to fix this problem.

If I am doing something wrong, please just let me know and I will fix it. I
do not go into forums or discussion groups very often, and I may make
mistakes sometimes.

I am sorry for any inconvenience I have created for anyone, I am just really
getting frustrated with these programs not doing the one thing I need them to
do.

Oh also I got some answers like "ask the program creator about working with
Vista" and at the program creator page I got "This is not a problem with the
software, ask windows help or their discussion groups for the answer within
Vista." How many times would someone have to go around in that circle before
realizing that I will get nowhere with it. This discussion forum (to my
knowledge) is my last hope to get this problem resolved. I really enjoy using
Vista, and would hate to have to downgrade back to XP just so my animations
could render.

If I am missing something, please, let me know. I will fill in any blanks
that are needed.

My post was intended as teaching, not as preaching, and I'm sorry if that
wasn't clear. And much of it was aimed at lurkers, especially newbie
lurkers, who might see the thread and not realize the meanings of
crossposting and multiposting. After years spent in these newsgroups, I'm
constantly reminded that the person I'm addressing in my post is not likely
to be the only person reading it. There are always others "reading over our
shoulders".

I'm sorry I can't help with the actual point of your posts. Malke knows
more about these issues than I do, but it sounds to me like your question is
less about security than about the workings of the media programs and
Vista's enforcement of the old rules about keeping user data out of
protected folders. If I were trying to pick the proper NG for that kind of
question, I might look for those with "media" in their names. There are at
least a couple of hundred of those, including a couple dozen in English.
Just click Newsgroups and type "media" into the search box that says,
"Display newsgroups that contain". You should find plenty of users there
who have met and solved the same kinds of problems.

You might want to crosspost your original question to a few of those "media"
groups. ;^}

Sorry if I came accross so strongly, I'm just very frustrated with this
