I take digital videos of my for sale horses and produce movies with movie
maker. They will play on the computer just fine. I save to a DVD and they
play on the computer just fine. When I put them into the DVD player they do
not play. I get an error about the playback feature is not available on this
disk. I have burned up 10 disks trying different methods all to no
resolution. I understand the DVD players like MPEG 2 but MS Movie Maker does
not save in that format or at least I can't get it to. I'm using an Acer
Ferrari 3400 with 2GB memory and MS XP pro. I have all the updates
installed. So where do I go from here. I and my customers awaite your
solution.

You need DVD authoring software.

You need to save the completed file as a DV-AVI and then use third party
software (Nero, Roxio, PowerDirector, WinDVD Creator) to create a Video DVD.
Windows Movie Maker cannot create a Video DVD.

Thank you for the responce. I have tried to save it as you suggest but I
get an error file exceeds the 4gb filesize limit.

Thank you for the info. So I gather the MS software is rather useless and
the real solution is to use something else. So Tuesday I buy an Apple then
put Linux on this box and be free of software that doesn't work. All the
frustration for nothing.

Your hard drive appears to still be in the ancient FAT32 format. You need
to convert it to NTFS.

There's no frustration, you formatted the drive in FAT32 instead of NTFS.
It's user error, rather than Microsoft error.

It's user error, rather than Microsoft error.

And MS will show you how easily you can convert FAT32 to NTFS in a few seconds.

Hi

I don't know if this will help you but I have juts completed a 45 minute
film and saved on DVD using W Movie Maker (2.0) and Nero (6). The DVD runs
both on my Computer and a TP DVD player for playback on my TV. My Film
comprised a mixture of still pictures (and MPEG files) and Video from my
Camcorder. Nero won't allow you to mix JPEGs and Video at the same time.

My WMM film had to be done in 5 segments the longest being 15 minutes (owing
to WMM falling over). I then saved each segement using the "Save Movie"
option from the File menu and then brought each segment into Nero and
assembled the completed film. It may seem like a lot of hassle but in
practice was very easy and it worked like a dream and did not involve
converting into any other formats.

Good luck

Ossie
